Ovgora, the name of
the hill where our extremely peaceful holiday apartments are located,
means far visibility. From the patios you have a superb panoramic view of
the village, the sea, the Messara plain, the Ida mountains as well as
the hills with the archaelogical excavations of Festos and Agia
Triada.
Kamilari is a typical
Cretan village with about 250 inhabitants in the south of Crete. In
the village there are three "tavernas" (the restaurant
"Kelari" is our family taverna), a pizzeria, two cafenions, an
internet cafe which serves breakfast, a minimarket and a supermarket with
a butcher's shop. There are also shops selling souvenirs and
jewellery.
The nearest beach is in
Kalamaki, which is about 2.5 km from Kamilari. The airport in Heraklion is
about 60 km away.
