Alpine Club of Kalambaka

The Alpine Club of Kalambaka established at 10/10/1989. Is a tactical member of Hellenic Federation of Mountaineering and Climbing.

Line of the Club is the propagation of Mountaineering, Rock Climbing and Skiing as well the protection of Greek mountains and specially of the Meteora area.

To achieve this line the Club :

1. Conserves sections of mountaineering, rock climbing and sport climbing.
2. Actualize ascensions and climbing in Greek and foreign mountains.
3. Materialize climbing schools for the improvement, of the members, in climbing techniques.
4. Have organized a team that preserves the safe bolts in the climbing area of Meteora.
5. Have organized a local rescue team.
6. Occupies a refuge (alt. 1450) in mountain Triggia (alt 2204).
7. Advises the public and private enterprises which construct environmental works.

The club has 70 members. Twenty of them are experienced climbers. Also has 2 Mountaineering Instructors of the Hellenic Federation of Mountaineering and Climbing.

Notably activities:

1993

• Undertaking the program “Youth and Mountain” of the Prefecture of Trikala.
• Organize in association with HFMC the universal conference of the “Commission of safety” (UIAA) in Meteora.

1994

• Materialize Climbing School for Beginners.
• Undertaking the program of HFMC for retrobolting 200 safe bolts in climbing area of Meteora.

• Materialize Climbing School

• Participate in the Universal meeting for the Protection of the Nature (Mountain Wilderness)
• Organize in association with HFMC the Balkan and Hellenic Climbing Meeting.

1997

• Materialize Climbing School.
• Organize in association with HFMC the Hellenic Climbing Meeting.

• Materialize Climbing School.
• Organize in association with HFMC the Hellenic Climbing Meeting.
