Excerpt from Alkestis' recent interview with L. Orfanides in Mirror issue 11 (March 1999):

Q:    What elements make you decide if a person deserves to remain your friend or not?
A:    The eyes and the tone of voice.  These elements never hide the truth...............

Q:  To what extent does your image as a disciplined and almost invulnerable artist keep up with your personal life?

A:    In Love no discipline exists.  There are no standards and no norms.  You make the same foolish mistakes at 18 and at 38.  There is no difference.  You repeat mistakes you have sworn to everybody and to yourself not to ever make.  And you fall in the same trap...............and you even enjoy it, immensely.

Q:    Which phase of a love affair is the most ideal?

A:    What really enchants me is that, when the first passion and the love calms down, and while you are blind  and you don't notice anything around you, your feelings gradually become much more substantial.   It's very beautiful to wake up in the morning and to look at a loved face beside you, a person that knows you in all the phases of your life, from dusk till dawn.  Because, to sleep with a person, to give yourself in his arms, is to me extremely important, it cannot be put  into words..............................................................."
