CD Recording FAQ

5. Installing a cd recorder
  5.2. Software installation

A recorder is totally useless without the proper software installed. This means that you are obliged to install at least one cdr program. Often a recorder is accompanied by cdr software, which you can try first.

A lot of cdr programs install possibly dangerous files, so it would be a good idea to use an installing monitor, that is a program which will keep track of any changes made when installing a new program.

Often you need to reboot after installing a cdr program. If, after that, you see that your system crashes or automatically reboots or any similar problem, boor into safe mode and uninstall the program immediately.

If you start the program and everything goes well, check to see if your recorder shows up in the program as a supported recording device. If it doesn't, check whether you need to install an update so that the program supports your device, and try to update the ASPI layer if you are under Windows.
