About Program Ratings

Due to the overwhelming interest in our rating system, we have constructed this page to inform our users and software authors of the criteria followed when establishing a rating for software on our site.

The rating system is based on a scale of 5. Only programs with a rating of 3 butterflies or more are finally included in the Software lists.

Why some programs don't have a rating?
As more and more programs are added, the ratings will be gradually updated.

What are the criteria for rating software?
A number of criteria are taken into account when reviewing a program:

  • Features and Performance
  • Stability
  • User interface
  • Ease of Use
  • Completeness
  • Pricing
  • Personal opinion

Is price of any relevance to rating?
Yes! Since freeware is given to you at no cost, criteria are less strict than those used for a similar commercial program.

Should I take a look at programs with a rating of 3 or 4 when there are others with a rating of 4 or 5?
That depends on your own needs. While a rating of 5 indicates that this program may fit perfectly to a larger set of criteria, a 3 butterfly rate is the standard for good, quality software. A 3 butterfly program may be your personal 5 butterfly program if it fits your needs and personal tastes and if the price is right.
