Setting up your computer for typing
Greek
This applies to Windows XP but may work with earlier versions. If not then go
to Microsoft Help!
1 Click Start then Control
Panel 2 Click Regional and language
options 3 Click Languages 4 Click Details 5 Click Add 6 Scroll through the Input languages and click Greek 7 Click OK three times 8 Click on the language bar on the taskbar in the bottom right-hand
corner of your screen and select Greek. 9 Open your Word program and select the Arial font and you will now be
able to type Greek letters.
The Keyboard
The following are key points related to the diagram: 1 Much of the Greek alphabet is similar to the English. 2 Print the diagram below and keep it by your side!
3 To type ά, έ, ή etc, first push the key shaded in pink in the diagram then type the letter. If you require ϊ, hold down shift at the same time as the pink key and type your letter.
4 The keyboard shortcut for changing from one language to another is Shift + Ctrl and it is a good idea to right click the language bar and Restore it if it is minimised.
