Lesson 6 Verbs
Present Tense 2 The verb ‘to speak’ is shown below. Note that there are alternative verb-endings. In these lessons we will use the versions given first i.e. those endings indicated in red.
Other verbs conjugated in the same way include αγαπάω, γελάω, γερνάω, γλεντάω, διψάω, ζητάω, κολυμπάω, ξεχνάω, πεινάω, περνάω, πονάω, προτιμάω, ρωτάω, τραγουδάω. Note that these verbs end with –άω but you will also see μιλώ, αγαπώ, γελώ etc. Indeed, if you look for them most dictionaries you will find the -ώ version as opposed to the -άω. (*Author's note. You will often come across this version and αγαπά, ρωτά, προτιμά etc. Beware, it caught me out when I first came across it!) The verb ‘to say’ has the following endings:
