Lesson 23  Passive verb endings present tense 1

 

 

The meaning of ‘passive’ will be discussed later.

 

        Below is the present tense of έρχομαι – I come, arrive.

 

 

έρχομαιI come

ερχόμαστε

έρχεσαι

έρχεστε, ερχόσαστε

έρχεται

έρχονται

 

 

 

Five other verbs conjugated in the same way are:

 

κάθομαι – I sit 

 

στέκομαι  - I stand 

 

εργάζομαι I work – an alternative form of δουλεύω 

 

σηκώνομαι – I get up

 

ονομάζομαι – I am named, my name is. Used in formal situations as follows:

πώς ονομάζεστεhow are you named?  what is your name?  

ονομάζομαι Γιώργος Σέφερις – I am named, my name is.
