Lesson 1  Nouns and gender

The following are the three types of noun. Notice how the word for ‘the’ changes:                      

 

Masculine

Feminine

Neuter

singular

ο άντρας - the man                             

η γυναίκα - the woman

το παιδί - the child

plural

οι άντρες - the men

οι γυναίκες - the women

τα παιδιά – the children

Masculine, feminine and neuter are called genders.

Note that in these pages, nouns of each gender will be colour-coded as above.
